How to Keep Your Pet Comfortable During Grooming

Most grooming stress isn’t about the bath or the clippers — it’s about surprise. Pets who know what’s coming, arrive pleasantly tired, and trust the hands holding them will doze through a groom that terrifies a first-timer.

Practice at home in tiny doses

Touch paws, lift ears, and run a brush over their back for a few seconds daily, pairing each with a treat. By appointment day, the sensations are old news — and our groomers inherit a pet who already knows the drill.

Arrive exercised, not exhausted

A moderate walk beforehand burns off nervous energy. Skip the dog park marathon — a wired-tired pet is harder to settle than a mildly exercised one.

Keep drop-off short and sunny

Lingering, apologizing goodbyes tell your pet something is wrong. Hand over the leash, smile, and go — our studio greets every arrival with treats and a sniff-around before anything else happens.

Aftercare: admire, then routine

Expect some extra sniffing of their new smell and possibly a big nap. Brush the high-friction spots (behind ears, armpits) between appointments, and book the next groom before mats form — prevention is always gentler than repair.

Nervous about a first groom? Ask for a sniff-around visit — free, ten minutes, all treats. See grooming options.
