Preparing Your Pet for a Day at Daycare

A great daycare day starts the night before. Pets who arrive fed, exercised a little, and carrying something that smells like home settle in dramatically faster — most are playing within twenty minutes.

Keep the morning boring

Feed at the usual time, keep goodbyes short and cheerful, and avoid brand-new experiences on the same morning. A calm ten-minute walk before drop-off takes the fizz off without tiring them out.

Pack light but familiar

Bring their regular food in a labeled bag, any medication with written instructions, and one comfort item — a worn T-shirt beats a brand-new toy. Skip the giant toy box; daycare has plenty, and favorites can get lost in group play.

Tell us the small stuff

The details that feel too small to mention are exactly what we need: the word that means “come”, the spot they hate being touched, the housemate they squabble with, the thunderstorm plan. Put it on the booking form and remind us at drop-off.

Expect a tired, thirsty superstar

Most pets come home, drink deeply, and nap hard — that’s a successful day, not overexertion. Offer water, a normal dinner, and a quiet evening. By the third visit, many pets drag their parents toward our door.

New to Saffronfield daycare? Every pet starts with a trial morning so we can match their group. Book a trial morning — $35/day after that, with photo updates throughout.
